Wife of former Shark Dominic Moore dies after 9-month battle with liver cancer

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The wife of former San Jose Sharks forward Dominic Moore has died.

The Sharks say Katie Moore died Monday after a nine-month battle with liver cancer.

Dominic Moore missed San Jose's final two playoff games last April to be with his wife shortly after she was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer.

Dominic Moore was acquired by San Jose last February in a deal with Tampa Bay. He is currently an unrestricted free agent.

The Sharks offered their condolences to the Moore family and called Katie Moore's courage during the illness an inspiration.

Quote of the Day

He's a winner. We want winners here, and he's a proven winner. He's won two Stanley Cups. He's 22 years old and been a big part of it. He's got all the right tools. He's got size (6-foot-1, 204 pounds) and strength. He's exactly what we were looking for. He's going to be a big piece of our team for many, many years to come.
