Kings' Kopitar could miss start of season
Los Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar likely will miss the start of the 2012-13 NHL season due to a knee injury.

Los Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar likely will miss the start of the 2012-13 NHL season due to a knee injury he suffered Saturday while playing for Mora IK of Sweden's Allsvenskan hockey league.

Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times reported via Twitter that Kings general manager Dean Lombardi said Kopitar likely suffered a Grade 2 sprain of the medical collateral ligament in his right knee.

Prior to determining the injury, Lombardi suggested Kopitar could be out at least three weeks.

Kopitar helped the Kings win the Stanley Cup last season with eight goals, 12 assists and a plus-16 rating in the playoffs. He had 25 goals and 51 assists in 82 regular-season games.
