The Montreal Canadiens might have to start training camp without top center Tomas Plekanec, who suffered what the Montreal Gazette reported to be an upper-body injury in late December while playing for Kladno in the Czech Republic.
"It's nothing serious," Plekanec told the newspaper. "I should be playing in a week, 10 days maximum. Maybe quicker when I get proper treatment."
Plekanec hopes to get a full report on his health when he is examined by Canadiens doctors once the new Collective Bargaining Agreement is ratified and training camps open.
Plekanec was second on the team with 35 assists last season, and fourth with 52 points.
It's an incredible feeling just to see it go in and see the Joe go pretty crazy. Ever since the introduction there, I was kind of feeling the nerves, and to put that one home, I started to feel comfortable and I thought my play started to pick up.
