Patterson 40 saves as Knights hold off the Rangers

LONDON, Ont. - Jake Patterson turned aside 40-of-42 shots as the London Knights held on to beat the visiting Kitchener Rangers 3-2 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Matt Rupert and Ryan Rupert each had a goal and an assist for the Knights (34-5-3), who led 3-0 before Kitchener finally got on the board late in the second period, and Josh Anderson scored once.

Eric Ming and Justin Bailey scored for the Rangers (21-13-5), who lost for the first time in three outings.

Franky Palazzese, who started his sixth straight game for Kitchener, made 41 saves in a losing cause.

Both clubs went 0 for 3 on the power play.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
