Carrick scores in OT as Whalers beat Storm

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Connor Carrick scored 2:29 into overtime as the Plymouth Whalers came from behind to beat the visiting Guelph Storm 3-2 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Mitchell Heard scored his first goal for the Whalers (19-12-8) since being reassigned by the Colorado Avalanche this past week and Garrett Meurs had the other.

Justin Auger and Patrick Watling gave the Storm (21-12-5) a 2-0 lead early in the first period before Plymouth found its offence.

Alex Nedeljkovic made 25 saves for the win as Keegan Wilson stopped 26 shots in defeat.

Plymouth went 1 for 2 on the power play while Guelph failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
