EVERETT, Wash. - Reid Petryk scored twice, including the winner on a penalty shot at 17:16 of the third period, as the Everett Silvertips edged the visiting Spokane Chiefs 3-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Petryk earned the penalty shot after being tripped up from behind by Spokane defenseman Reid Gow while on a breakaway.

Blake Gal and Mike Aviani scored for the Chiefs (24-13-1), who are winless in three games, and Garret Hughson turned aside 23 shots in defeat.

Everett failed to score on two chances with the man advantage while Spokane went 1 for 4 on the power play.

Quote of the Day

Obviously there's a lot of expectations around me but it's something I try not to focus on. I'm just trying to go out there, be myself on the ice every day, try to get better, be myself around the guys in the locker room. I think that's what's made me successful and the person that I am.
