Williams 22 saves, Brown lone goal as Otters blank Colts

ERIE, Pa. - Devin Williams turned aside all 22 shots he faced to earn his first Ontario Hockey League shutout as the Erie Otters blanked the visiting Barrie Colts 1-0 on Friday.

Connor Brown scored the winning goal at 3:46 of the third period for the Otters (13-21-5), who completed a two-game season sweep of Barrie, and J.P. Labardo picked up the only assist.

Brown now has 20 goals and 46 points in 39 games, which gives him the team lead in both categories.

The Otters have now won five of their last seven games and have moved within four points of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Mathias Niederberger stopped 36-of-37 shots in a losing cause for the Colts (25-12-1).

Neither club could produce with the power play as Erie went 0 for 2 and Barrie 0 for 3.

Quote of the Day

I was going nuts and I saw [Subban], he was going crazy, and the ref had no idea where to go. [Subban] was skating to me, and I was skating to him and the ref was right in between us and I don't know, I kind of hit him pretty hard, I thought, but those were some emotions and I'm pretty sure he understands that.
