WHL Roundup: A look at Sunday's games

Chandler Stephenson and Morgan Klimchuk dominated the scoring in the Regina Pats' latest victory.

Stephenson and Klimchuk combined for 11 points to lead the Pats to a 6-2 win over the Saskatoon Blades in the Western Hockey League on Sunday night.

Stephenson scored twice and had four assists while Klimchuk had a goal and added four assists for Regina (15-21-4).

Lane Scheidl and Kyle Burroughs, each with a goal and two assists, and Colten Mayor rounded out the scoring while Pats goaltender Matt Hewitt made 18 saves.

Scoring for Saskatoon (19-18-1) were Darren Dietz with a goal and an assist and Matthew Pufahl.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Vancouver 8, Prince George 4; Brandon 6, Red Deer 5; and Kelowna 5, Everett 1.

At Regina, the loss marks the fourth in a row for the Blades, who are without regular goalie Andrey Makarov. The Buffalo Sabres' draft pick is home in Russia competing in the world junior hockey championship.

The last two times these teams met was a home-and-home series earlier this month in which the Blades outscored Regina 16-0. This time it was the Pats who poured it on, scoring five of their six goals in a 10-minute span in the second period.

Stephenson, a third-round Washington Capitals pick, has four goals and four assists in his last three games since returning from a foot injury that cost him 26 games.

Regina went 4 for 7 on the power play while the Blades were 1 for 2.

Saskatoon goalie Alex Moodie made 21 saves and was relieved to start the third by Patrick Johnson, who made four saves on four shots.

Giants 8, Cougars 4

At Vancouver, Trevor Cheek scored a hat trick to help the league-worst Giants (10-27-0) cruise past the Cougars (12-20-5).

---

Wheat Kings 6, Rebels 5

At Red Deer, Alta., Michael Ferland scored broke a 5-5 tie in the third period to lift Brandon (14-20-4) past the Rebels (22-15-3).

---

Rockets 5, Silvertips 1

At Kelowna, B.C., Dylen McKinlay's short-handed goal proved to be the winner for the Rockets (26-10-2) against Everett (15-23-2).
