Gaunce leads the Bulls over the Rangers

BELLEVILLE, Ont. - Brendan Gaunce had a goal and an assist for the Belleville Bulls as they downed the Kitchener Rangers 3-2 Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Michael Curtis also had a goal and an assist for the Bulls (21-11-4) as Jake Cardwell scored once.

Keli Grant scored both goals for the Rangers (19-12-5), who are winless in four games.

Given all kinds of space to walk in from the slot, Curtis wristed home his seventh of the season to open the scoring at 15:49 of the first period.

Both clubs exchanged goals in the second period, starting with Grant winning a battle in front of the Belleville net to bang home his second of the season. Gaunce regained Belleville's lead in the dying seconds of the period after he tipped home a point shot on the power play.

After Cardwell extended the lead in the third period, Grant added a late goal for Kitchener.

Charlie Graham made 34 saves for the win as Franky Palazzese stopped 33 shots in the loss.

Belleville went 2 for 3 on the power play while Kitchener failed to score on its only chance with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

It's pretty crazy, but believe me when I say we didn't draft these players with the mindset we had to because they had good hockey-playing dads. It just turned out that way. But we're certainly glad they're a part of our organization.
