McRae, Schwartz score in shootout as Peoria defeats Abbotsford 2-1

PEORIA, Ill. - Phil McRae and Jaden Schwartz scored in the shootout as the Peoria Rivermen beat the Abbotsford Heat 2-1 in American Hockey League action Monday.

McRae and Schwartz scored on Abbotsford goaltender Barry Brust while Paul Byron had the only goal for the Heat in the shootout.

Krys Kolanos put Abbotsford (16-9-7) up 1-0 with a power-play goal 2:34 into the second period.

But Taylor Chorney tied the game 7:35 into the third for the Rivermen (14-14-4) to send the game to extra time.

Peoria goaltender Mike McKenna finished with 35 saves while Brust stopped 36 shots.
