David Leggio makes 34 saves as Americans shut out Bulldogs 2-0

HAMILTON - David Leggio stopped 34 shots as the Rochester Americans shut out the Hamilton Bulldogs 2-0 in American Hockey League action Monday.

Evan Rankin and Mark Mancari scored for Rochester (16-12-3), which sent Hamilton to its second straight shutout defeat.

Cedrick Desjardins stopped 24 shots for Hamilton (11-17-3)

The Americans opened the scoring at 6:33 of the first period on a power-play goal by Rankin. Brian Flynn brought the puck in on the left side and feathered a pass to Rankin in the slot who tapped the puck by Desjardins.

Rochester made it 2-0 at 11:15 of the second period as Mancari skated down the boards on the right side and took a shot from a sharp angle which squeaked over the shoulder of Desjardins and into the back of the net.

Quote of the Day

I think I'm lucky to be here and you definitely don't take very many things for granted, if you take anything for granted. I definitely put my family and my wife and my close family in perspective, that they're the most important thing in the world. I want to do whatever I can to play hockey, but like I said, under the right circumstances.
