Leier and Petan lead the Winterhawks over the Silvertips

PORTLAND, Ore. - Taylor Leier and Nicolas Petan each had a goal and an assist as the Portland Winterhawks beat the Everett Silvertips 4-2 on Friday in the Western Hockey League.

Adam De Champlain and Brendan Leipsic also scored for the Winterhawks (26-5-1) while Derrick Pouliot chipped in with two assists.

Landon Oslanski scored both goals for the Silvertips (13-21-2).

Leipsic's team-leading 22nd goal gave Portland the lead 1:46 into the game on a power play, and De Champlain added another goal while on the man advantage three minutes later.

Petan put Portland up 3-0 with another power-play goal early in the second period, but Oslanski pulled the Silvertips within two goals with a 5-on-3 goal midway through the period.

Leier's goal less than three minutes later gave Portland a 4-1 lead through two periods.

Oslanski found the net with 1:59 left in regulation to round out the scoring.

Portland goaltender Brendan Burke won his ninth straight decision, making 24 saves on 26 shots, while Austin Lotz turned aside 34 shots in defeat for Everett.

The Winterhawks went 3 for 8 on the power play while Everett went 1 for 7.
