Scott Laughton leads Oshawa Generals past Barrie Colts 3-1 with three points

BARRIE, Ont. - Scott Laughton had a goal and two assists as the Oshawa Generals knocked off the Barrie Colts 3-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday night.

Chris Carlisle and Scott Sabourin scored for Oshawa (18-12-3), which has now won four of its last five road games. Michael Dal Colle had a pair of assists for the Generals.

Erik Bradford replied for Barrie (21-9-1), which was without the services of top scorers Mark Scheifele and Anthony Camara, both of whom made Canada's junior national team earlier Thursday. Andreas Athanasiou picked up a helper to bring his assist streak to five games.

The Generals were able to strike on the man advantage, going 1 for 5 on the power play. Barrie finished the night at 0 for 1.

Colts goaltender Mathias Niederberger turned aside 38 shots in defeat.

Quote of the Day

That was something I've been dreaming of, something I've told myself before the third period I was going to do ... It was an amazing feeling. It's hard to describe. I didn't believe it went in at first but when I saw all the reaction and all the fans going crazy and my teammates going crazy, it's just an unbelievable feeling. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know whether to jump or just skate and do a Theo Fleury. I don't think I'm the same caliber player he is so I couldn't do it.
