Shinkaruk leads the Tigers over the Hurricanes

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Hunter Shinkaruk scored twice in regulation and added the shootout winner as the Medicine Hat Tigers edged the host Lethbridge Hurricanes 8-7 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Curtis Valk also scored twice for the Tigers (14-16-2) while Miles Koules had a goal and four assists.

Elgin Pearce had a goal and two assists for Medicine Hat and Dylan Bredo added a single goal.

Jaimen Yakubowski scored five goals for the Hurricanes (15-14-5), Russell Maxwell had a goal and two assists and Sam Mckechnie chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Cam Lanigan turned away 25-of-32 shots for the win as Ty Rimmer made 22 saves in a losing cause.

Medicine Hat went 1 for 5 on the power play while Lethbridge scored three times on eight chances with the man advantage.
