Moutrey scores SO winner as the Spirit edge the Whalers

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Nick Moutrey’s goal with eight seconds remaining in overtime gave the Saginaw Spirit a 3-2 victory against the host Plymouth Whalers on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Justin Kea scored twice for the Spirit (13-15-4), including the equalizer with 1:57 left in regulation to force overtime.

Tom Wilson scored once and added an assist for the Whalers (14-8-7) and Ryan Hartman scored the other.

Jake Paterson stopped 44-of-46 shots for the win while Matt Mahalak made 30 saves in a losing cause.

Saginaw went 0 for 4 on the power play while Plymouth scored once on five chances with the man advantage.
