CRANBROOK, B.C. - Greg Chase scored twice as the Calgary Hitmen swept a home-and-home series against the Kootenay Ice with a 6-1 win in Western Hockey League action Tuesday.
Brooks Macek, Victor Rask, Carson Samoridny and Pavlo Padakin also scored for the Hitmen (19-6-3), who have won 11 of their last 13 games including Sunday's 4-1 win over Kootenay.
Kyle O'Connor's wrist shot to open the scoring at 9:16 of the first period was all the offence the Ice (8-18-1) could manage.
Just 11 seconds after O'Connor's goal, Calgary tied the game when Padakin scored from alone near the crease.
One minute later Rask made it 2-1 on a power play, and less than a minute after that Chase scored his first goal to give the Hitmen a two-goal advantage.
Samoridny scored at 3:50 in the second, and after Calgary created a turnover in the Ice's zone Macek was found with a wide-open net to make it 5-1.
Chase added his second of the game at 10:31 in the third for his fourth goal against Kootenay in two games.
Hitmen goaltender Mack Shields made 30 saves for the win, while Mackenzie Skapski stopped 35 shots for the Ice.
