ANCHORAGE, Alaska - NHL veteran Colby Armstrong has signed with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL.

Armstrong has joined the Grizzlies on their current road trip and will begin practising and conditioning with the team immediately.

"Colby is another experienced veteran leader that we’ve been interested in," said Grizzlies head coach Kevin Colley. "You can't explain how valuable a player like this is coming into our room at this level. We are very excited to have him. He’ll be another great example and leader to our team of talented prospects."

Armstrong has 87 goals, 204 points and 364 penalty minutes in 439 NHL games with Pittsburgh, Atlanta and Toronto. He signed with Montreal during the off-season.

The 30-year-old native of Lloydminster, Sask., was drafted in the first round, 21st overall, of the 2001 NHL draft.

Colby Armstrong's brother Riley is currently the Grizzlies co-captain.
