Cook scores winner, Brace adds two more as the Attack beat the Wolves

SUDBURY, Ont. - A late goal from Holden Cook proved to be the difference as the visiting Owen Sound Attack downed the Sudbury Wolves 6-4 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Cameron Brace scored twice for the Attack (19-5-3) while Kyle Hope, Jake Dotchin and Zach Nastasiuk had the others.

Nathan Pancel scored a hat-trick for the Wolves (10-15-4) as Mathew Campagna assisted on all three.

Michael Kantor had the other goal for Sudbury.

Jordan Binnington turned aside 38 shots for the win as Joel Vienneau picked up the loss after allowing five goals on 31 shots before leaving the game in the third period. Taylor Dupuis stopped 2-of-3 shots in eight minutes of relief.

Hope opened the scoring for the Attack with a shot from the slot at 3:21 in the first period, but Kantor responded at 7:23 to tie the game 1-1.

Dotchin made it 2-1 for Owen Sound at 11:26 and it stayed that way until the second period when Pancel scored back-to-back goals less than five minutes apart to give the Wolves a 3-2 advantage.

Nastasiuk replied for the Attack with a shot from the right face-off circle that squeaked through Vienneau's right arm and pad at 14:23 to tie the game 3-3.

Brace backhanded the puck over Vienneau's glove on a shorthanded breakaway at 2:12 in the third period to give the Attack a 4-3 lead, however Pancel completed his hat-trick at 7:14 to make it 4-4.

Cook regained the lead for the Attack at 12:49 with the eventual game winner and Brace scored shorthanded at 18:59.

Owen Sound went 0-for-4 on the power play while Sudbury went 2-for-5.
