QMJHL Roundup: Mantha's two goals help Val-d'Or overcome Saint John

VAL-D'OR, Que. - Anthony Mantha scored twice as the Val-d'Or Foreurs held off the Saint John Sea Dogs 7-5 in the lone Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game Thursday night.

Mason Gray, Samuel Henley, Cedrick Henley, Brett Hester and Vincent Dunn also scored for Val-d'Or (14-11-2), while Francois Tremblay made 20 saves in net.

Stephen MacAuley and Kevin Gagne each scored twice for Saint John (14-13-0), which also got a single from Pierre Durepos and three assists from Jonathan Huberdeau.

Gagne's second goal 5:45 into the third period helped the Sea Dogs rally back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game at five.

But Gray scored on Saint John goaltender Alex Fournier at 9:14 and Cedrick Henley added an insurance goal at 14:02 to put the Foreurs ahead for good.

Fournier finished with 26 saves in a chippy game that featured 22 penalties. Saint John scored four times on 10 power-play opportunities, while Val-d'or went 1 for 6 with the man advantage.
