Cory Schneider to play in Switzerland
Vancouver goalie Cory Schneider has signed a contract to play for Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss National League A.

Vancouver Canucks goalie Cory Schneider has signed a contract to play for Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss National League A. According to Ambri-Piotta's website, Schneider's contract runs through Dec. 31 with an option to play beyond that date if the NHL lockout is ongoing.

Schneider, who went 20-8-1 with a 1.96 goals-against average for Vancouver last season and signed a three-year contract with the Canucks this summer, is expected to join Ambri-Piotta on Thursday and could play as early as the weekend.

Schneider, a native of Marblehead, Mass., holds dual U.S.-Swiss citizenship, meaning the team doesn't have to use one of the four roster spots allocated for import players.
