Lipsbergs scores hat trick as Thunderbirds defeat Silvertips 5-3

KENT, Wash. - Roberts Lipsbergs scored the first hat trick of his Western Hockey League career to help lift the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 5-3 win over the Everett Silvertips on Tuesday.

Seattle built a 3-0 lead on a pair of first-period goals by Lipsbergs and one by Jesse Forsberg in the second period.

Everett tied it on second-period goals by Kohl Bauml, Josh Winquist and Carson Stadnyk, with all three goals assisted by Reid Petryk.

Lipsbergs, a rookie centre from Latvia, gave Seattle the lead back with his third goal of the game and ninth of the season 1:56 into the third period.

Justin Hickman provided an insurance goal for Seattle at 15:21 of the third period.

Seattle, 12-12-1, is now 3-0 against Everett, 10-17-2, in the 10-game season series between the two teams.
