KENT, Wash. - Brendan Leipsic scored twice and added two assists as the Portland Winterhawks crushed the host Seattle Thunderbirds 8-2 on Saturday in Western Hockey League play.
Oliver Bjorkstrand also scored twice for the Winterhawks (21-4-1), who have won four games in a row, and Ty Rattie chipped in with three assists.
Troy Rutkowski, Chase De Leo, Presten Kopeck and Nicolas Petan each scored once to round out Portland's offence.
Connor Honey and Luke Lockhart scored for the Thunderbirds (11-13-1).
Mac Carruth made 27 saves for the win as Brandon Glover allowed four goals on 20 shots before getting pulled two minutes into the second period. Justin Myles made 16 saves in 38 minutes of relief.
Portland went 2-for-7 on the power play while Seattle failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.
