ERIE, Pa. - Aaron Berisha scored on the final shootout attempt as the Belleville Bulls beat the Erie Otters 4-3 in Ontario Hockey League play Thursday.
Berisha scored twice in regulation and Brendan Gaunce also had a single for Belleville (13-7-3), which led 3-0 midway through the second period.
But Erie (7-13-4) rallied back to force extra time with three unanswered goals by Connor Crisp, Luke Cairns and Travis Wood.
Bulls goaltender Malcolm Subban stopped 31 shots, while at the other end Oscar Dansk made 28 saves but failed to stop a shot in the shootout.
The Bulls arrived in Erie with the OHL's worst scoring offence, but they wasted no time scoring the game's opening goal.
Gaunce scored just 23 seconds into the game, before Berisha added two goals in the second for a 3-0 lead.
But Erie stormed back. Crisp scored less than a minute after Berisha's second goal at 8:15. Then Cairns brought the Otters within one at 15:01.
In the third, Wood's slapshot from outside the blue-line at 12:07 beat Subban to force the eventual shootout.
