SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - Terry Trafford's second goal of the night, at 2:23 of overtime, gave the Saginaw Spirit a 4-3 win over the host Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Wednesday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Trafford finished the night with a pair of goals, his first two of the season, and an assist for the Spirit (10-12-3) while linemate Vincent Trocheck added a goal and an assist.

Justin Kea also scored for Saginaw and Jason Shaw chipped in with two assists.

Andrew Fritsch scored twice for the Greyhounds (10-12-2) while Nick Cousins had two assists.

Defenceman Ryan Sproul had a goal and an assist in his first game back from injury to round out Sault Ste. Marie's offence. Sproul missed 16 games with a fractured forearm.

Jake Paterson stopped 41 shots for the win as Justin Nichols made 28 saves in a losing cause.

The Spirit went 0-for-2 on the power play while the Greyhounds scored on their only opportunity with the man advantage.

Once again, it shows character in this dressing room. Once again, there's no quitting in here. We all wanted this so bad and we worked so hard to get home-ice advantage and we weren't going to let this one slide.
