EVERETT, Wash. - Carson Stadnyk scored both Everett goals and Daniel Cotton made 40 saves as the Everett Silvertips edged the Medicine Hat Tigers 2-1 in WHL action Sunday.
Everett was outshot 41-18, with Cotton allowing only a power play goal by Curtis Valk in the third period, before Stadnyk put the Silvertips in front with his second goal of the game at 12:43.
Stadnyk opened the scoring in the second period with his second goal of the season at 13:17.
The Silvertips killed off 6 of 7 Medicine Hat power plays, while the Tigers denied the ‘Tips on all three of their opportunities.
Medicine Hat outshot Everett 14-3 in the first period, 14-8 in the second, and 13-7 in the third.
Everett was first to crack the scoreboard when Austin Adam released a shot from the blue-line that was deflected in off Stadnyk’s stick in front.
Medicine Hat tied the game on the power play at 7:34 of the third period when Valk scored on a one-timer from the top of the left circle.
The Silvertips re-took took the lead five minutes later as Landon Oslanski slipped a nice centring pass to Stadnyk, who tucked the puck past Cam Lanigan from just outside the crease.
