VANCOUVER - The Saskatoon Blades scored three times in a four-minute span late in the third period en route to a 5-2 Western Hockey League win over the Vancouver Giants on Sunday.
Nick Zajac broke a 2-2 tie at 11:27 when he beat Vancouver’s Tyler Fuhr with a slapshot from the top of the circle. Matej Stransky connected on the power play with his second goal of the game at 15:25, and Duncan Siemens closed the scoring 12 seconds later.
Saskatoon opened a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Shane McColgan at 7:49, and by Stransky at 9:32.
The Giants tied the game in the second period with goals from Trevor Cheek at 14:14 on the power play, and by Anthony Ast at 18:01.
Andrey Makarov made 30 saves for Saskatoon (10-10-1), while Fuhr turned back 29 shots for Vancouver (7-15-0).
