Rattie and Leier supply offence as the Winterhawks beat the Tigers 5-2

PORTLAND, Ore. - Ty Rattie and Taylor Leier each scored twice as the Portland Winterhawks downed the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Chase De Leo also scored for the Winterhawks (17-4-1) while Nicolas Petan had three assists.

Miles Koules and Cole Sanford scored for the Tigers (11-12-1), who have lost three games in a row.

Brendan Burke made 24 saves for the win as Marek Langhamer stopped 48-of-53 shots in a losing effort.

Portland went 1-for-5 on the power play while Medicne Hat failed to score on its only opportunity with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
