QMJHL Roundup: A look at Sunday's games

Mikhail Grigorenko scored four times as his Quebec Remparts downed the visiting Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 5-4 in a shootout on Sunday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The 18-year-old forward has six goals and 12 points during a current five-game scoring streak and his 16 goals and 36 points in 18 total games is good for third in league scoring.

Nikita Kucherov scored the winner in the shootout for the Remparts (15-4-0), who have won back-to-back games, while Stephen Midesnky chipped in with three assists.

Alexandre Lavoie scored twice and set up one more for the Screaming Eagles (5-11-5), who have dropped four consecutive outings, and Michael Clarke and William Carrier each had a goal and an assist.

Zachary Fortin made 22 saves for the win as Philippe Trudeau turned away 19 shots in a losing cause.

Quebec found success with its power play as it went 3-for-7 while Cape Breton failed to score on four chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Blainville-Boisbriand 8, Saint John 1; Drummondville 5, Acadie-Bathurst 4 and Baie-Comeau 5, Val-d'Or 2.

At Quebec City, Clarke opened the scoring 48 seconds into the first period, however Grigorenko scored twice in six minutes and the Remparts took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Lavoie tied the game 2:42 into the second period, but again Grigorenko responded to give Quebec a 3-2 advantage after 40 minutes of play.

Carrier scored Cape Breton's third goal of the game 7:48 into the third period.

Grigorenko's fourth goal of the game came at 17:37 and looked to be the game winner until Lavoie scored 35 seconds later to force overtime.

Armada 8 Sea Dogs 1

At Boisbriand, Que., Danick Martel had three goals and an assist and Marcus Hinds scored twice as the Armada (15-5-2) crushed Saint John (10-11-0), which has dropped back-to-back contests.

Voltiguers 5 Titan 4

At Drummondville, Que., the Voltiguers (11-10-0) jumped out to a 5-0 lead with five power-play goals and Domenic Graham stopped 27 shots as his club held on to beat Acadie-Bathurst (9-10-4).

Drakkar 5 Foreurs 2

At Val-d'Or, Que., Petr Straka scored twice and set up another and Philippe Cadorette stopped 26 shots as Baie-Comeau (15-4-2) picked up its sixth straight victory by beating the Foreurs (9-10-3).

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
