Rupert scores three times as the Knights blank the Whalers 5-0

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Matt Rupert scored a natural hat trick as the London Knights cruised to a 5-0 win over the host Plymouth Whalers on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

London goaltender Kevin Bailie earned the shutout with a 36-save outing.

Rupert scored at 14:38 of the first period and then again on a Knights' power play 51 seconds later.

He completed his hat trick on another power play five minutes into the second period and later assisted on Olli Maatta’s power-play goal at 11:31 of the middle period.

Bo Horvat rounded out the scoring for the Knights (12-5-2) with a power-play goal at 16:38 of the third period and Seth Griffith chipped in with three assists.

London went 4-for-8 on the power play while Plymouth failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

Your team is going to want to recapture the feeling. What they're going to have to figure out is they're going to have to rewrite the story. Because you're going to rewrite the story doesn't mean you want a different end. It's just that you're going to have to learn that there's different challenges to get there, and if you're going to try and tap the same feeling, it ain't going to happen.
