Portland Winterhawks score 3 goals in 2nd period to beat Red Deer Rebels 5-1

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks scored three unanswered goals in the second period to beat the Red Deer Rebels 5-1 in Western Hockey League play Tuesday.

Oliver Bjorkstrand, Derrick Pouliot, Seth Jones, Brendan Leipsic and Ty Rattie each scored for the Winterhawks (13-3-1).

Cory Millette had the lone goal for Red Deer (9-10-2) at 2:09 in the third.

Portland goaltender Mac Carruth stopped 21 shots for the win, while at the other end Patrik Bartosak and Bolton Pouliot combined to stop 41 shots.
