CBA meeting adjourned; will continue Thursday
The National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players' Association continued negotiating toward a new Collective Bargaining Agreement for almost six more hours Wednesday at an undisclosed location in New York City.

NEW YORK -- The National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players' Association continued negotiating toward a new Collective Bargaining Agreement for almost six more hours Wednesday at an undisclosed location in New York City.

The meeting Wednesday came on the heels of a seven-hour negotiating session Tuesday.

The League and the Union also agreed to resume negotiations Thursday.

"The National Hockey League's negotiating committee met with representatives of the National Hockey League Players' Association for approximately 5-1/2 hours today," NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said. "Meetings are scheduled to resume [Thursday]. We do not intend to comment on the substance or subject matter of today's negotiations."

Added NHLPA Executive Director Donald Fehr: "The NHLPA and the NHL met today to discuss many of the key issues. We look forward to resuming talks [Thursday]."

Thursday will be the third straight day of bargaining this week and the fourth time in the past six days that representatives from the two sides have met in person, starting with a private one-on-one meeting on Saturday between Daly and NHLPA Special Counsel Steve Fehr.

Prior to Saturday, representatives from the League and the Union hadn't met face-to-face since Oct. 18.

The NHL and NHLPA have been without a CBA since Sept. 15 and the 2012-13 regular-season schedule has already been cancelled through Nov. 30. In addition, the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic and the Hockeytown Winter Festival have both been cancelled.
