Jake Patterson makes 31 saves as London Knights blank Guelph Storm 3-0

GUELPH, Ont. - Jake Patterson stopped all 31 shots he faced as the London Knights blanked the Guelph Storm 3-0 in the Ontario Hockey League on Sunday.

After two scoreless periods, Remi Elie opened the scoring midway through the third with his fourth goal of the season.

The Storm pulled goalie Garret Sparks with just over a minute left to play in an attempt tie the game, but Chris Tierney fired in an empty-netter at 18:55 to make it 2-0.

Guelph went on the power play for the final minute of the game, but Olli Maatta scored short-handed to put the game out of reach.

Sparks made 26 on 27 shots for the Storm (11-6-1), who went 0-for-5 on the power play.

The Knights improved to 10-5-2.

Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
