Alex Broadhurst scores winner in Knights 4-3 overtime win against Bulls

LONDON, Ont. - Alex Broadhurst buried a rebound 54 seconds into overtime Friday as the London Knights beat the Belleville Bulls 4-3 in the Ontario Hockey League on Friday.

Broadhurst, who had earlier assisted on a Brett Welychka goal, was able to stop a rebound off a Malcolm Subban save with his skate and found the back of the net.

Miles Liberati scored for the first time in his OHL career as London (9-5-2) ended a three-game winless stretch. Max Domi rounded out the Knights offence in regulation time.

Belleville (8-5-1) was led by Daniil Zharkov's pair of goals, including the equalizer at 13:43 of the third period. Garrett Hooey also scored for the Bulls.

Subban made 32 saves for Belleville.

Starter Kevin Bailie was pulled after letting in two on just nine shots for the Knights. Jake Patterson, who was yanked one day earlier in a 6-3 road loss at Windsor, was the winning goalie this time with one against on 15 shots.

London went 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Bulls went 1-for-4.

Quote of the Day

This is a great day for me. This is something I've been thinking about for a long time. This is a great opportunity that the St. Louis Blues organization, (owner) Tom Stillman and Doug Armstrong are giving me and trusting me in doing...This is going to be a great challenge for me.

— Martin Brodeur, after announcing his retirement as an NHL player and becoming a senior adviser with the Blues on Thursday
