Erie Otters center Connor McDavid is off to quite a start in the Ontario Hockey League.

Just one day after being added to the Subway Super Series, McDavid was named the OHL's Rookie of the Month for October on Thursday. The Toronto native had six goals and six assists in 10 games.

The third player to receive "exceptional player" status by Hockey Canada for early entry into the OHL, McDavid has a league-leading 14-game point-scoring streak and leads all OHL rookies with 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists). He notched at least a point in each of the 10 games he played in October.

Wednesday, McDavid was selected to represent the OHL at the 2012 Subway Super Series, which will take place next Thursday against Team Russia in Guelph, Ontario. McDavid will be the youngest to play in that event, which helps determine Team Canada's roster at the World Junior Championships.

Quote of the Day

If you want to prove people wrong, you've just got to go out and do it. Yeah, we blew 3-2 series leads the last two years, but no one is going remember that if we go out there on Saturday night and beat these guys and go play in the Stanley Cup Final. We need to get back to work and we'll start to do that tomorrow.
