OSHAWA, Ont. - Franic Menard scored once in regulation and added the shootout winner as the Peterborough Petes edged the host Oshawa Generals 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in Ontario Hockey League play.

Andrew Rieder also scored for the Petes (4-7-3), who have won back-to-back contests.

Boone Jenner and Matt Petgrave each had a goal and an assist for the Generals (9-5-2).

Michael Giugovaz made 45 saves for the win as Ken Appleby turned away 22 shots in a losing cause.

Peterborough went 0-for-2 on the power play while Oshawa scored once on six chances with the man advantage.

It's hard to walk into that locker room and look those guys in the eye when they've played -- clearly, that was our best game we've played in the series -- and I thought we deserved a better fate tonight.
