KENNEWICK, Wash. - Eric Williams stopped 35-of-37 shots as the Spokane Chiefs held on to defeat the host Tri-City Americans 3-2 on Saturday in Western Hockey League play.

Mike Aviani, Jackson Playfair and Todd Fiddler each scored for the Chiefs (10-5-0), who led 3-0 after 40 minutes of play.

Marcus Messier and Malte Stromwall scored third period goals for the Americans (9-5-2), who have dropped back-to-back games.

Eric Comrie turned aside 17 shots in a losing cause.

Spokane went 1-for-1 on the power play while Tri-City failed to score on either of its chances with the man advantage.

Playing for my favorite team growing up, I've probably scored that goal a million times in my driveway. It feels good to actually do it in real life.
