VANCOUVER - Marek Tvrdon scored three times and set up one more as the Vancouver Giants downed the visiting Victoria Royals 4-1 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Dalton Sward also scored for the Giants (3-9-0), who snapped a five-game losing streak, while Jackson Houck chipped in with two assists.

Jamie Crooks scored the lone goal for the Royals (9-5-0), who lost for the first time in four outings.

Payton Lee only had to make 12 saves for the win as Jared Rathjen picked up the loss after allowing three goals on 18 shots through 40 minutes of play.

Coleman Vollrath came in for the third period and stopped 14-of-15 shots in relief.

Vancouver went 1-for-6 on the power play while Victoria failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

Playing for my favorite team growing up, I've probably scored that goal a million times in my driveway. It feels good to actually do it in real life.
