Roman Horak scores twice in Abbotsford Heat's 5-3 win over Lake Erie Monsters

CLEVELAND - Roman Horak struck twice as the Abbotsford Heat downed the Lake Erie Monsters 5-3 on Friday in American Hockey League play.

Brett Olson had a goal and two assists for Abbotsford (4-0-1), while Carter Bancks and T.J. Brodie also scored.

Paul Carey, Luke Walker and Mike Sgarbossa supplied the offence for Lake Erie (4-3-0).

Danny Taylor made 30 saves to earn the win, while Sami Aittokallio stopped 18 shots for the Monsters.

Horak scored the eventual winner 5:46 into the third period. Olson then put away his first goal of the season for some insurance just over seven minutes later.

Neither team had much success with the extra man. The Heat were 0-for-4 on the power play, while Lake Erie went 0-for-6.

Quote of the Day

I mean, hockey had to change the rules because of Marty, and that's impressive. I got two Stanley Cup rings because of the guy. Look at the banners of [Scott Niedermayer, Scott Stevens and Ken Daneyko] and Marty is right up there when you think about the New Jersey Devils; he was part of the core group and he'll go down as one of the greatest goalies ever.
