Josh Currie scored twice on the power play and added another goal while shorthanded Thursday as the P.E.I. Rocket defeated the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 6-3 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

All six P.E.I. goals came on special teams — four on the man advantage and two while killing penalties.

Ben Duffy added a goal and two assists for P.E.I. (10-4-0), while Alexi Pepin chipped in with a goal and an assist in a game that featured 108 minutes in penalties.

Erik Robichaud also scored for the Rocket, while Alex Micallef picked up two assists. Maxime Legace made 17 saves to get the win.

Guillaume Asselin, with goal and an assist, Gabriel Gagnon and Sebastien Sylvestre scored for Chicoutimi (6-7-2).

Francis Desrosiers started in goal for the Sagueneens but was pulled early in the third after giving up five goals on 26 shots.

Julio Billia stopped 11-of-12 shots the rest of the way.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Baie-Comeau 8, Quebec 2; Victoriaville 5, Acadie-Bathurst 4 (OT); and Moncton 5, Gatineau 2.

At Charlottetown, the Sagueneens led 1-0 after the first period, but the Rocket took the lead in the second thanks to their special teams.

Robichaud scored shorthanded at 3:12 before Currie did the same at 11:34. Gagnon tied things again for Chicoutimi at 18:20, but Currie added his power-play goal with eight seconds left in the period to give P.E.I a 3-2 lead after two.

Duffy scored on the power play at 1:35 of the third and Pepin added another man-advantage goal exactly two minutes later to stretch the lead to 5-2 and send Desrosiers to the Chicoutimi bench.

Sylvestre got one back for the Sagueneens shorthanded with just over five minutes to go but Currie completed his hat trick on the power play with 15 seconds left in regulation.

P.E.I. finished the game 4-for-9 on the power play. Chicoutimi ended the night 0-for-5.
