TORONTO - Guelph Storm forward Hunter Garlent was named Canadian Hockey League player of the week Tuesday.
Garlent, a 17-year-old from Thorold, Ont., scored three goals and added five assists last week. He helped the Storm record three wins over the stretch as Guelph (9-2-0-1) moved into top spot in the Ontario Hockey League's Western Conference.
Colin Smith of the Western Hockey League's Kamloops Blazers and Petr Straka of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar were also considered for the honour.
Jordon Cooke of the Kelowna Rockets was named CHL goaltender of the week. He posted a 2-0-0-0 record last week.
