SPOKANE, Wash. - Dylan Walchuk scored the winning goal with just 24 seconds remaining in the third period as the Spokane Chiefs edged the visiting Prince George Cougars 3-2 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.
Tyler King and Mike Aviani had a goal and assist each for the Chiefs (7-3-0) and both goals came on the power play.
Jari Erricson and Colin Jacobs scored for the Cougars (5-5-1), who have dropped four straight contests.
Garret Hughson made 14 saves for the win as Mac Engel, the much busier of the two goaltenders, stopped 35 shots in a losing cause.
Spokane went 2-for-5 on the power play while Prince George went 2-for-6.
