SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Connor Rankin's goal with 3:20 left in regulation lifted the Tri-City Americans to a 2-1 win over the host Swift Current Broncos on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

The game was scoreless after two periods before Mitch Topping scored his third of the season on the power play to help the Americans (9-3-2) open a 1-0 advantage.

Swift Current (5-4-4) tied the game 1:34 later when overage-forward Chance Lund scored his fourth of the year.

Eric Comrie stopped 24-of-25 shots for the win as Eetu Laurikainen turned aside 22 shots in a losing cause.

Tri-City went 1-for-2 on the power play as Swift Current failed to score on either of its chances with the man advantage.

For me, it's a great win for our hockey team and for a lot of people back in Columbus, especially our fans in particular … people who have been devoted to this organization, it's big.
