Helewka supplies offence as the Chiefs edge the Thunderbirds 2-1

SPOKANE, Wash. - Adam Helewka scored both of his club's goals, earning the game's first star, as the Spokane Chiefs edged the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 on Friday in Western Hockey League play.

Brandon Troock scored the lone goal for the Seattle.

Chiefs' (7-3-0) goaltender Eric Williams stopped 14 shots for the win as the Thunderbirds' (5-4-0) Justin Myles stopped 34-of-36 shots in a losing effort.

Myles picked up the game's second star with his performance.

Spokane went 0-for-2 on the power play while Seattle scored once on three chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

[He's] real confident with the puck now, getting it off his stick quick and no second-guessing. We need that. He's such a good guy in the room. He works so hard. That's the big thing. For not a big man, he just fights for every puck and when he scores, the guys appreciate that even more.
