STEPHENVILLE, N.L. - The Syracuse Crunch overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat the St. John's IceCaps 3-2 in a shootout Friday in AHL exhibition play.
Hunter Trembley opened the scoring late in the first period with one-second left on a five-on-three power-play. Carl Klingberg made it 2-0 St. John's at 1:03 into the second period.
Brett Connolly got Syracuse back in the game with 12:36 left in the second period, and Matt Taormina tied it with 8:59 left in the third.
