WINDSOR, Ont. - Zack Mitchell scored two power-play goals and Garrett Sparks made 23 saves Thursday as the Guelph Storm shut out the Windsor Spitfires 5-0 in the Ontario Hockey League.
Scott Kosmachuk's third goal of the season broke a scoreless tie in the second period and Guelph (3-2-0) never looked back.
Kosmachuk wired a drop pass from Hunter Garlent from the right faceoff dot between the pads of Windsor goalie Jaroslav Pavelka
Special teams went a long way in determining the outcome of the game. The Spitfires (3-2-1) could not capitalize on any of their five opportunities with the man advantage, while the Storm went 4-for-12 on the power play.
Brock McGinn and Ben Harpur had the other power-play goals for Guelph.
With just 1:16 remaining in the third period and the Spitfires already killing off two penalties, Windsor defenceman Nick Ebert received a five-minute penalty and a game misconduct for charging Sparks.
Pavelka made 39 saves for the Spitfires.
