SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Josh Nicholls scored the game winner at the 2:32 mark of overtime as the Saskatoon Blades defeated the host Swift Current Broncos 2-1 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.
Nicholls collected his team-leading third goal of the season after being sent in on a breakaway on a long pass from Duncan Siemens.
Saskatoon's (2-2-0) Matej Stransky forced overtime when he scored on the power play with 2:03 left in regulation.
Swift Current (1-0-3) had a 1-0 lead when Ryon Moser scored at the 2:09 mark of the third period.
Andrey Makarov made 26 saves for the win. Despite the loss, Landon Bow stopped 40-of-42 shots to earn the game's first star in his WHL debut.
The Blades went 1-for-7 on the power play while the Broncos went 0-for-3.
