Roy scores shootout winner as the Wheat Kings edge the Broncos 5-4

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Eric Roy scored the winner in the fourth round of the shootout as the Brandon Wheat Kings edged the host Swift Current Broncos 5-4 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Nick Buonassisi led the Wheat Kings (4-0-0) offensively with two goals and one assist and now has four goals and nine points in four games.

Brandon also had goals from Ryley Miller and Ryan Pulock.

Chance Lund, Dalton Reum, Graham Black and Levi Bews each scored for the Broncos (1-0-3).

Brandon netminder Curtis Honey won his first start of the season as he turned aside 37-of-41 shots in regulation and overtime before making four more saves in the shootout.

Swift Current goaltender Eetu Laurikainen made 25 saves and stopped three shootout attempts before giving up the game winner.

The Wheat Kings went 1 for 5 on the power play while the Broncos scored twice on six chances with the man advantage.
