Vail's third period goal the difference as the Spitfires beat the Greyhounds 3-2

SAULT STE MARIE, Ont. - Brady Vail's goal 6:14 into the third period stood up as the winner as the Windsor Spitfires downed the host Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 3-2 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jordan Maletta and Michael Clarke also scored for the Spitfires (1-1-0).

Nick Cousins led the Greyhounds (1-1-0) offensively with a goal and an assist while David Broll added a single goal.

Jaroslav Pavelka made 29 saves for the victory as Matt Murray turned aside 37 shots in a losing effort.

Windsor went 2 for 8 on the power play while Sault Ste. Marie failed to score on eight chances with the man advantage.
