Moffat with three points as the Frontenacs defeat the Colts 3-1

KINGSTON, Ont. - Michael Moffat scored once and set up two more as Kingston defeeated the visiting Barrie Colts 3-1 on Friday in Ontario Hockey league action.

"This is a good stepping stone for the year here," said Moffat post game. "A great start for us and a confidence boost for the team."

Last season the Frontenacs won just 19 games games and finished 23 points out of the final playoff position in the Eastern Conference.

Cody Alcock and Sam Bennett also scored for the Frontenacs (1-0-0.)

Mark Scheifele scored the lone goal for the Colts (1-1-0), who were coming off a 6-4 victory against the Ottawa 67's on Thursday night.

"We just didn't come in with an attitude to win," said Scheifele. "We came out slow, we under estimated them and we need to get better."

Mike Morrison made 27 saves for the victory while Mathias Neiderberger turned away 31 shots in a losing effort.

Kingston went 2 for 6 on the power play as Barrie scored once on six chances with the man advantage.
