OHL Roundup: Lessio, Jenner kick season off for Generals with 5-2 win over Petes

Lucas Lessio and Boone Jenner starred on the first day of the Ontario Hockey League's season.

They both scored a pair of goals Thursday to the lead the Oshawa Generals to a 5-2 win over the Peterborough Petes.

Lessio had the first two goals of the game, one in the first period and one in the second. Both goals came when he used his speed to skate around defenders and break in alone, beating Petes' goalie Andrew D'Agostini.

Jenner banged both his goals home from scrambles in front to give the Generals a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes. Lessio and Jenner then assisted on Sebastian Uvira's marker as the Generals stretched their lead 4:17 into the third.

Peterborough broke Daniel Altshuller's shutout bid with a pair of goals in the third period.

Francis Menard took the puck on a give-and-go with Stephen Pierog and flicked a wrist shot high above Altshuller's shoulder. He then slid the puck back to the point and Pierog tipped home the ensuing shot.
